Menggunakan kajian kasus nasional, buku ini berusaha menyajikan interpretasi perbandingan tipologi baru dari hubungan tiga aspek tersebut di Taiwan, Korea Selatan, Filipina, Indonesia, dan Thailand. Dari analisa dan penggambaran transformasi sejarah demokratik dalam tiga puluh tahun terakhir, tiga tipologi berbeda muncul.
